Who we are
Name Badge Creator at namebadgecreator.com (the "site") is provided by Glenwhisper Limited, a company incorporated in Hong Kong (glenwhisper.com), "we" or "us".
These terms apply whenever you use the site, including the badge editor, templates, guides, accounts and forms. By using the site you agree to them. If you don't agree, please don't use the site. You can reach us through our contact form.
Using Name Badge Creator
You can import a list, design badges and see the proof and mockup without an account. Downloading the final badge files needs a free account. A project can hold up to 2,000 attendees; current limits are always shown on the pricing page.
You may use the badges you make for any lawful purpose, including paid and commercial events, and you may send the files to a print shop. You don't need to credit us.
Your account
- Give a real email address you can receive mail at, and keep your password to yourself. You are responsible for what happens in your account.
- One person per account. Tell us through the contact form if you think someone else has used yours.
- You can delete your account at any time in Account settings. That deletes your saved projects and uploaded images, as our privacy policy explains.
- We may suspend an account that breaks these terms, after telling you why where we reasonably can.
Attendee data, logos and images
The lists, names, logos, images and text you add (your "content") are yours. We claim no ownership of them.
- You are responsible for having the right to use the attendee data you upload, for example because the people on the list registered for your event and you told them how their details would be used. Follow the data protection law that applies to you and your attendees.
- You are responsible for having the right to use every logo, image and piece of artwork you upload, such as your own brand, a client's logo used with their permission, or images you have a license for. Don't upload anything that infringes someone else's trademark, copyright or other rights.
- You give us permission to store and process your content only as needed to run the site for you: to show your designs, create your files, keep your saved projects and provide support. We do not use your attendee data for anything else and we never sell it. Our data processing terms below say how we handle it.
If someone tells us that content in a saved project infringes their rights or was uploaded unlawfully, we may remove it and will let you know.
Data processing terms
When you save a project to your account, we store the attendee data in it on your behalf. For that data you are the controller and we are your processor (under the UK and EU GDPR), or your data processor (under Hong Kong's PDPO). These terms are our processing agreement with you for it:
- Your instructions only. We process attendee data only to provide the service you use: storing your projects and their versions, showing them to you when you sign in, and supporting you when you ask. We never use it for our own purposes, never sell it, and never include it in the anonymous design log or the export log.
- Confidentiality. Only people on our team who need it to run the service or to answer a request from you can access stored projects, and they must keep them confidential.
- Security. Data travels only over HTTPS. Projects are stored in our database, uploaded images privately in file storage, and both can be read only through your signed-in account. Passwords are stored only as salted PBKDF2 hashes, and sessions only as hashes of their tokens. Badge files are made in your browser, not on our servers.
- Sub-processors. Cloudflare, Inc. hosts the site, the database and file storage. Google LLC (Gmail) holds our team inbox, which receives only what you send us through the contact form, so please don't send attendee lists that way. You authorize these sub-processors. Cloudflare processes stored data under its data processing addendum. We will list any new sub-processor in our privacy policy before it handles attendee data, and you can delete your projects or account if you object.
- Transfers. Data may be processed outside the UK and the EU, as our privacy policy describes, under the Standard Contractual Clauses in Cloudflare's data processing addendum.
- Helping you. You can open, correct and delete your projects yourself at any time. If an attendee asks you about their data and you need more from us, contact us and we will help. We will give you the information you reasonably need to show that these terms are followed.
- Breaches. If we become aware of a breach affecting your saved projects, we will tell you without undue delay, with what we know, so you can meet your own obligations.
- Deletion. A project you delete is removed for good 30 days later. Deleting your account removes your projects, their versions and your images right away.
If your organization needs these terms as a separate data processing agreement, contact us and choose "Business, print shops or partnerships".
Printing
Badge sizes and sheet layouts come from the dimensions manufacturers publish. Printers, drivers, settings and stock vary, and some of these are outside our control.
- Print one page on plain paper and hold it against your sheet or holder before the full run. Our printing guide shows how.
- Print at actual size (100%), not "fit to page".
- Check names, spelling and any QR codes on the proof before you print. A QR code holds only the text or link you give it.
Avery and other product names are trademarks of their owners. "Compatible with" means our layout matches the published size; we are not affiliated with or endorsed by them.
Acceptable use
Please use the site fairly. You must not:
- use it to break the law, or to make badges, passes or IDs meant to impersonate someone, get into places you are not allowed, or deceive people;
- upload lists you have no right to use, or content that is unlawful, hateful or infringes someone else's rights;
- try to break, overload or get around the limits or security of the site, share accounts to dodge limits, or scrape it with automated tools in a way that harms other users;
- send spam, malware or abusive messages through the forms.
We may block access from anyone who breaks these rules.
Our templates and your badges
The site, its design, code, templates and guides belong to Glenwhisper Limited or the people we license them from. You may use our templates to make badges with Name Badge Creator, and use and print those badges freely. Please don't copy or resell the templates themselves, or the site, as your own product. You are welcome to link to any page.
Pricing
During launch every feature is free, including exports. We plan to charge $10 per export later. Nothing can be bought today. Before anyone can pay, we will announce it on the pricing page and publish terms covering billing, refunds and cancellation, which will apply in addition to these. Exports you made while they were free stay yours.
Changes to the service
We work to keep the site available and accurate, but the service is provided as it is and as available. We may change, add or remove features, templates, sizes or limits, and we may pause the site for maintenance. Keep your own copy of the badge files you need for an event. Where a change takes away something you rely on, we will try to give notice on the site first.
Liability
The site and guides are provided without any promise that they will be error-free or suit your particular purpose, except where the law does not allow such promises to be excluded. Guides are general information, not legal or professional advice.
To the extent the law allows, we are not responsible for losses that come from using the site, including the cost of badge stock, holders or reprinting, misprints, delays or lost data. Checking the proof and printing a test page are the best protection against these.
Nothing in these terms limits or excludes our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud, or for anything else that cannot be limited or excluded by law. If you use the site as a consumer, you keep all the rights the law gives you.
Governing law and disputes
These terms are governed by the laws of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region. The courts of Hong Kong can deal with any dispute about them, but they are not the only place you can go (their jurisdiction is non-exclusive).
If you use the site as a consumer, for example in the UK, the European Union or the United States, you keep the protection of any rules in the law where you live that cannot be overridden by a contract, and you can bring a claim in your local courts where that law allows it. Before going to court, please tell us what went wrong. Most problems can be fixed with a message.
Changes to these terms
We may update these terms as the site changes, for example when paid exports launch. We will change the effective date at the top when we do, and email account holders about meaningful changes. If you keep using the site after an update, the new terms apply. Questions about these terms? Contact us.
